Changes

Well, phase one has been completed, and the blog has successfully been transported to my site. It still needs a great deal of template work, but you can check it out if you'd like:
militantplatypus.com

Two quick things. The reason that I am moving from blogger is multi-facited, but breaks down to two main reasons. First, I like have complete control over the blog, and not being at the mercy of a free service. Second, I have been having some trouble with being able post consistently lately. Having said that, let me please also add that blogger has been great to me, and I will continue to recommend it to those who want to start blogging.
Lastly, I want to give a hugh thanks to Skeltoac at wordpress support forum. I could not have made the transition with out him.

Please continue to check in, I will make a formal post when the transition is final, and I will no longer be posting at blogger. If you have any question or comments, please feel free.

Thanks for looking, and I hope to see you at www.militantplatypus.com/blog

Where's all the Good Coffee at?

Tired of Corporate coffee giants plugging Coffee Shops everywhere.
Being served by a barista that is a way to hyper with that plastic grin, Repeating the same programmed questions over and over. It's creepy. I just want to get a cup of coffee from a normal person in a cool place.

Now there is a way to find ALL the cool shops around you.

I searched my area and there are:
26 Cafe's near me
and
35 Starbucks.

Wow, talk about a wild ride. I may, or may not be moving to hosting this blog on my own server, but so far it has been dicey at best. Sorry for the confusion, I have restored the blog, and will try not to mess it up too badly. I will let you know when and if I make the move. Thank you for your patience!

Konfabulator

The above image is my favorite widget so far...

Konfabulator is a JavaScript runtime engine for Windows and Mac OS X that lets you run little files called Widgets that can do pretty much whatever you want them to. Widgets can be alarm clocks, calculators, can tell you your WiFi signal strength, will fetch the latest stock quotes for your preferred symbols, and even give your current local weather.

Woman Sells Her Name On EBay For $15K

"SEYMOUR, Tenn. -- A mother of five put her name up for bid on eBay and got an offer. Terri Iligan, 33, sold her name to Internet site Golden Palace Casino, and she will officially be named goldenpalace.com once the legal work is complete.

The casino paid $15,199 for the name.

Iligan said she got the idea when she found out how much it would cost to send one of her children, ages 4 to 10, to a golf school Tiger Woods attended.

'To my kids and to my husband, I will always be Terri. My husband is real supportive,' she told WATE-TV in Knoxville. 'He thinks it's funny. As long as they get to call me mom, they don't care.'"

    I'll Be Back

    Anyone remeber T2?

Hit a crystalline metal with a hammer and it will bend, absorbing some of the energy of the blow by giving way along grain boundaries. But the atoms in an amorphous metal are tightly packed, and easily bounce back to their original shape after a blow (see Diagram). These materials lack bulky crystalline grains, so they can be shaped into features just 10 nanometres across. And their liquid-like structure means they melt at lower temperatures, and can be moulded nearly as easily as plastics.
